ESEH 2025 Climate Histories Conference
23.08.2025
August 18th – 22nd, 2025 in Uppsala, Sweden
The past week, Eduardo and I participated in the European Society for Environmental History, conference in Uppsala. This was a new-to-us organisation that we learnt has been arranging conferences that bring together a large number of people working interdisciplinarily on Environmental topics.

One of the intriguing aspects was that we saw presentations ranging from Blue Humanities initiatives and high school education projects to crafty workshops on algae and religious scholars combining archival work with analysis of different kinds of practices used to negotiate weather, environmental changes, and political upheaval.
Our presentation was part of the extensive artistic works presented during the days. We were invited to offer a workshop open to the public. This was a great opportunity to revisit some of the materials on Requeirimento that Eduardo presented last summer and the texts the project has explored from Bartholomeo de Las Casas’ writings on first encounters. Now we shared an Art Intervention that mixed our methodological approaches in a new way, and this was a very rewarding setup.
