Decolonising Theology
Last year, Eduardo Abrantes and I were invited to Edinburgh College of Art to give a performance lecture exploring the topic “Teresa de Ávila – Influence and Instrument“ asking questions of how to understand her place in the period of colonial expansions. Now this work is depending! In February Jude Lal Fernando and Sigridur Guðmarsdóttir, amongst others, are arranging a Decolonising Theology day at the Polin Institute of Åbo Akademi University, to which I have been invited to speak on the topic “Teresa of Avila – life between destabilising colonial politics and politicised erotic”. For this purpose, I have now revisited Teresa’s life and works in Ávila and found some intriguing insights into her decolonial strategies that I look forward to sharing with you on February 5th!
